We have an exciting new opportunity for an individual to join the Fleet Engineering Team on a Secondment for up to 6 months as a Project Support Engineer based at our Canton maintenance depot. The Project Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting all engineering and technical aspects relating to fleet projects. You will support the engineering team to, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming to help assure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. A sound knowledge of Traction and Rolling Stock Mechanical and Electrical systems is required, the role will involve hands on trial and testing of new or modified train equipment and as such the individual must be a time served and have completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent or be able to demonstrate the necessary experience and knowledge to fulfil this Safety Critical post
The Project Support Engineer will be required to navigate several software applications both generic and bespoke including asset management system, therefor the individual must be computer literate, note there will be training for bespoke applications
Essential skills: required
· Minimum of 4 years Traction and Rolling Stock experience.
· Be able to work under own initiative.
· Sound understanding of Engineering Principles.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Excellent presentation skills.
· Excellent IT skills.
· Understanding of project management (derisible)
· HNC/HND/Engineering degree (desirable)
