    The Technical Instructors role is comprised of two parts; the management for Fleet Technical Training and the mentoring of our Fleet Apprentices.

    We are looking for an experienced Trainer to come in to develop and carry out Technical Training with staff to achieve an in-depth knowledge and understanding of train systems and associated equipment, enabling staff to complete their tasks in a safe reliable manner. As well as this you will be expected to train those without technical experience in areas not covered in their apprentice framework.

    Experience:

    ·       Qualification (or working towards or be prepared to work towards) in Education / Training

    ·       D32 / D32, A1 Assessors qualification or equivalent or be prepared to work towards

    ·       Verification award or be prepared to work towards

    ·       Engineering Qualification

    ·       Experience of managing resources

    With the oversight of KeolisAmey Wales Cymru, AmeyKeolis InfraCo (operating as Transport for Wales Rail Services) will form a revolutionary new organisation responsible for operating and maintaining the Core Valley Lines infrastructure from September 2019. Transport for Wales Rail Services will be responsible for day to day management of railway infrastructure assets, renewals and asset operations management for the next 14 years.

A role based in our new, state-of-the-art offices in the centre of Cardiff, this is a central role to help us continue in our mission to become the best railway in the UK.

    A senior role within the organisation, the Head of Performance reports into the Performance & Planning Director, overseeing a team of Performance Managers and Analysts. Encapsulating performance for the whole of TfWRS, the role requires a strong management and leadership style, with the ability to adapt according to the pressures faced within a fast pace environment daily.

    Working closely with key stakeholders, you will facilitate meetings with key leads to ensure milestones within the Joint Partnership Agreement are on track and closely monitor Performance Improvement Plans with functional Directors in close collaboration with the Performance team. You will approve business cases submitted for performance improvements and must feel comfortable justifying any expenditure to senior levels within the business.

    Answerable to any performance trends, you will work closely with the Reporting & Analyst Manager to deliver results in key meetings outlining any future risk and mitigation. Overseeing and arranging the creation of comprehensive daily and periodic reports an eye for detail is essential for this role, ensuring the audience fully understands the content included within the detail submitted. You will also be required to have experience of the railway operation and the functions with a good understanding of how each interlinks with the other and the ability to challenge decisions in a tactful manner.

    Main responsibilities:

    ·      Assist in leading the team responsible for delivering the STP timetable, preparation of robust traincrew and unit diagrams meeting commercial specification and fleet maintenance requirements.

    ·      Liaise with Network Rail and other operators in preparation of timetable bids in line with the requirements of the Network Code and to meet business objectives (including commercial, operational and performance criteria).

    ·      Undertake validation of offers received for STP as required and maintain industry timescales for availability of amended timetable information in downstream systems at T-12.

    ·       Ensure robust plans are in place for Special Events including timetable, traincrew & unit diagrams.

    Ideally, you will have a sound knowledge of railway operations practice, operating instructions and procedures, timetable principles and traction and traincrew diagramming principles, along with a good geographical knowledge of all routes across the network.

    As we continue our journey across Wales and Borders, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Systems Engineer to come in and assist the team at our Canton Maintenance Depot.

    The Systems Engineer will compile project plans for fleet improvements whilst working with the Fleet Planning Team to best realise the proposed benefits.  You will also monitor progress against plans whilst reviewing improvements against project improvement targets. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    ·       To achieve performance KPI’s in terms of safety, reliability, availability, and cost of the systems equipment for which they are responsible for.

    ·       Own specified systems full Whole Life Cycle Cost Model (WLCM) including the Train Reliability Improvement Programme (TRIP). Create periodic reports to update internal and external stakeholders on fleet performance for nominated systems. Leading performance Viz sessions and presenting detailed performance analysis reports at leadership meetings.

    ·       Monitor fleet performance, identify actual and potential material, production, planning and technical problems by establishing root cause. Manage closure of logged technical, production and planning issues associated with systems engineering.

    ·       Create a dynamic, data driven, and performance led organisation utilising industry best practice, ‘Brilliant Basics’ and analytics led performance improvement maintenance techniques.

     Experience:

    ·       Relevant demonstratable industry experience.

    ·       Experience of delivering projects and modifications.

    ·       Significant experience in asset improvement management

    ·       Familiarisation with fleet contracts and rolling stock leases. 

    ·       Excellent knowledge of computer systems

    ·       An effective communicator

    ·       Diplomatic ability to influence others at all levels of the business
