    In May 2018, Transport for Wales appointed KeolisAmey Wales Cymru as their Operator and Development Partner to realise a multi-billion-pound transformation of the Welsh rail network.

    With the oversight of KeolisAmey Wales Cymru, AmeyKeolis InfraCo (operating as Transport for Wales Rail Services) have formed a revolutionary new organisation responsible for operating and maintaining the Core Valley Lines infrastructure. Transport for Wales Rail Services will be responsible for day to day management of railway infrastructure assets, renewals and asset operations management for the next 14 years.

    This is a great opportunity for the railway in Wales, particularly the Cardiff Valleys, and we are looking to build a dedicated and highly motivated team to help deliver on the commitments made to the Welsh Government and provide the railway that the people of Wales can be proud of.

    As part of this, we need great people to join us – we are looking for a Control Systems Team Leader to join the team.

    You will be responsible for directing, organising and motivating the team so that work is undertaken safely, efficiently and to the relevant standards. You will also undertake and direct inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal work as allocated.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    ·         Establish and maintain appropriate safety arrangements for staff under your control including Contractors.

    ·         Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other relevant instructions.

    ·         Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent.

    ·         Undertake and direct work activities in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.

    ·         Control and check the quality of work undertaken and confirm assets are compliant to standards.

    ·         Check that the staff under your control have the appropriate and valid competencies.

    We have a permanent opportunity to join our Driver Team Managers, who lead and inspire a team of train drivers on the North Wales Coast. 

    The role demands strong people management focus and you will need excellent communication skills to ensure your team are highly motivated to deliver an excellent service for our business and to our customers. The role is interesting and varied, with a strong focus on ensuring the highest safety and performance standards are maintained through engagement and encouragement of your team.

    You will work as part of a close team of driver managers and also work closely with other managers across the business such as Performance, Safety, Customer Service and HR, and manage the relationships with key stakeholders such as Network Rail.

    If you are a highly customer focussed individual who ensures they are at the root of all decisions you make, this may be the job for you. The successful person will have the opportunity to play a key role in the reshaping of the driver function moving forward.

    You must be a Qualified Train Driver with 3-5 years' experience.

    You will organise and arrange the efficient resourcing to meet the needs of the team to support all works, including appropriately competent staff, plant and materials. You will also ensure the correct business processes are followed and appropriate records are created and maintained and any specific contract requirements are met. 

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    ·       Procure staff from within and externally for the business where specialist competencies are needed to support work schedules and programmes

    ·       Assist with the safety and welfare of the section staff

    ·       Maintain competency records for IM staff

    ·       Organise IM staff training as required

    ·       Maintain rosters for IM staff

    ·       Manage and control the resources required including any hiring of vehicles, plant and equipment including transportation of materials and plant both to and between work sites

    ·       Collate and maintain time sheets from staff and subcontractors ensuring that approvals are obtained

    As we continue our journey across Wales and Borders, we have an exciting opportunity for three Fitters to join us at our Fleet Maintenance Depot in Canton, Cardiff. These roles are available on a permanent basis.

    You will be an integral part of our Maintenance Team in helping us to achieve our high standards of train maintenance through conducting pre-planned exams and unplanned repairs, as well as being responsible for changing engines, transmissions and wheel sets. 

    In turn you will play a key role in ensuring our targets are not only consistently met but improved upon.

    You will be a team player, demonstrate good technical knowledge covering mechanical and hydraulic systems and a strong appreciation of electrical systems, possess a “can do” attitude and an innovative approach to problem solving.  

    Working a 38-hour week, these roles will cover a variety of shift patters including days, nights, weekends & Bank Holidays, so flexibility is essential.

    As we continue our journey across Wales and Borders, we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our train presentation team as a Carriage cleaner, at our Canton Maintenance Depot in Cardiff.

    Keeping our trains clean and presentable is essential for our customers so we’re looking for a person who takes a pride in their work.

    You will clean the interior and exterior of our trains, which means the role is a physically demanding one and one which can involve working outside in all weathers.

    As well as cleaning our trains, you will be expected to undertake Depot Cleaning duties, as and when required.

    We are looking for an experienced cleaner with a good understanding of COSSH regulations, as well as being a great team player, with strong communication skills. The role covers a variety of shift patterns including nights and weekends, so a flexible attitude is important.

    As we continue our journey to transform the railway across Wales and the Borders, we have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and influential individual to join our team as a Service Quality Support Manager.

    As a key part of the Service Quality Regime, you would be responsible for helping drive forward improvements across the business by providing valuable support to the delivery functions as they seek to address actions raised from SQR inspections. This would involve daily interaction with all levels of the organisation, benefitting from strong interpersonal skills and a positive mindset.

    Detailed knowledge of Railway Franchise Service Quality Regimes, and in particular the associated Time to Fix elements is key, with a strong focus on providing demonstrable evidence of having successfully improved station manager engagement and buy-in with a Railway Franchise Service Quality Regime. You will also be responsible for scheduling and supporting the delivery of rostering arrangements.

    This is a fast-paced role where experience of working to service level agreement timescales related to Service Quality franchise commitments is essential, along with experience of managing contracted provision of defect resolution works in a Railway Stations environment being highly desirable.

    Use of software systems is an important part of the role, so you should be comfortable with the standard office package, including use of Excel in particular. You will also have the ability to operate administrative functions within a Maximo based asset management system, with experience of auditing both the initial standard of service requests as raised, and the status alterations through the lifecycle.
