    As we embark on our journey to transform the railway across Wales and the Borders, we have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and influential individual to join our team in as a Performance Technician.

    A major part of the role will be, focussing on live defects, ensure all relevant reports, products and materials are available for the maintenance team. This will include in depth fault finding to solve technical issues.

    Other responsibilities include:

    ·       Working under his/her own initiative, taking responsibility for your own safety and others in your working area.

    ·       Set up Work Reports in advance of unit arrivals so that all work required is captured.

    ·       Review completed work to develop a ‘Right First Time’ approach to defects.

    ·       Liaise with Maintenance Control, Stores, Control and Engineering to ensure the team have all the information to hand when needed.

    ·       Fault finding and investigation of re-occurring/prolonged faults

    ·       Writing in-depth technical reports on technical issues and faults

    ·       Provision of information to Engineering on possible technical improvements to the fleet

    ·       Working with Engineering to investigate and close out issues raised through the maintenance feedback process.

    ·       Support production with standardisation of investigations and reporting

    ·       Support Engineering in writing and the issuing of Fleet and Special checks

    ·       Writing of scopes of work for Production to carry out investigations

    ·       Responsible for the coaching of staff in good working practices and quality standards. Supporting the Service delivery manager in the identification of training needs.

         ·       Qualified Craftsmen

    ·       5 years craft experience

    As we continue our journey across Wales and Borders, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Train Planning Manager to come in and assist the team. A role based in our new, state-of-the-art offices in the centre of Cardiff, this is a central role to help us continue in our mission to become the best railway in the UK.

    Main responsibilities:

    ·      Assist in leading the team responsible for delivering the STP timetable, preparation of robust traincrew and unit diagrams meeting commercial specification and fleet maintenance requirements.

    ·      Liaise with Network Rail and other operators in preparation of timetable bids in line with the requirements of the Network Code and to meet business objectives (including commercial, operational and performance criteria).

    ·      Undertake validation of offers received for STP as required and maintain industry timescales for availability of amended timetable information in downstream systems at T-12.

    ·       Ensure robust plans are in place for Special Events including timetable, traincrew & unit diagrams.

    Ideally, you will have a sound knowledge of railway operations practice, operating instructions and procedures, timetable principles and traction and traincrew diagramming principles, along with a good geographical knowledge of all routes across the network.

    In this new role, the successful candidate will coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information within the Transport for Wales Rail Services Project team overseeing the introduction of new and cascaded rolling stock on the Wales and Borders rail franchise.

    This is a role that requires an individual who has prior experience of supporting large scale projects and is able to represent the client’s needs are met as the projects evolve. Ideally you will have a strong administrative background and a HNC in Business Administration or the equivalent experience.

This in turn will ensure our targets are not only consistently met, but improved on, which is a key focus for our organisation.

    You will hold a recognised apprenticeship with a minimum of NVQ Level 3; you will be a team player, have good knowledge of covering Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Electrical systems and possess an innovative approach to problem solving.  You will have strong communications skills, a “can do” attitude and be able to demonstrate flexible approach to your work.

    The position covers a variety of shifts, which includes nights, weekends and Bank Holidays so applicants must be flexible.

    The successful applicant will be experienced in project management; you will manage small scale refurbishments of stations, along with managing the budget and expenditure committed to the Social and Commercial Development Plan.

    Ideally, you will hold a professional qualification in Property Management and will possess relevant experience, along with knowledge of Social Enterprise.

    The role will focus on engaging effectively with key stakeholders to deliver procurement strategies in line with the business objectives.  Track record of managing the end to end tender process is desired along with strong commercial focus with experience of leading supplier negotiations.
